Shri Ganeshpatrivan

Shri Ganeshpatrivan (Lord Ganesha's Leaf Garden)

In the worship of Shri Ganesha, leaves of 21 tree-plants with extraordinary medicinal properties are offered. A forest has been established after consecrating these 21 trees with the experiments of mantra shastra (the science of sacred sounds).

Along with the planning of the Rashi Upavan (zodiac sub-garden), the planning of many forests was going on in my mind, and the study related to it was ongoing. The study of Puranic texts was also ongoing. Many people know about the plants embraced by Ganesha, but I also studied why Ganesha adorned them for different reasons, drawing from various Puranas like Mudgal Purana and Ganesh Purana. The Mudgal Purana mentions only four Patris (leaves), but other texts suggest that there are 21 plants dear to Ganesha. All these are medicinal plants. Ganapati is the giver of Siddhi (accomplishment) and Buddhi (intellect). Siddhi means success and fulfillment of tasks, and Buddhi is the power that provides intellectual inspiration. Ganesha has unparalleled importance.

The "Brahmanaspatisukta" is the supreme hymn of Ganesha's glory, while the Atharvashirsha is an extremely beautiful and scientific hymn. Ganesha is primarily considered a national deity. Everyone is aware of this greatness of Ganesha, but there must be a reason behind Ganesha embracing these 21 leaves. Ayurveda has highlighted the unique importance of these leaves. Each leaf or the Panchang of the tree it belongs to also has Ayurvedic uses. I bow down to this Omkar-formed deity, that is, Ganaraya (Lord Ganesha).
